Driving though British Columbia, Canada you are inundated with BC Wildlife Highway signs that warn about which wildlife to watch out for and not hit on the road. The highway signs triggered the design of Welcome To The West’s logo design.
The signs contained elements, wildlife cut-outs and arrows and I wanted to use them for the logo because they represent a special part of Canada. The font is Calgary Script (a font which is based on an old “Welcome to Calgary” sign). These familiar elements combine to create a recognizable western identity.
